Great things were seen last Friday, September 7, 2007. There were displays that were really fun. Some of these are the shadow catcher, the bubble-maker, tan grams, the infinity and anti-gravity mirror, and of course the body conductor. All of these were really great and it makes you think that science is a very wonderful subject/

I have tried all of the displays in that exhibit. One of the exciting ones was the bubble-maker. My friend and I were trying hard to make a bubble with that but we just can not, but after some time, we did make a bubble!

Another is the optical illusion displays. Some of the images were really hard to figure out. Some students figured it out but I just can’t. but even if it was difficult, I enjoyed it because it was challenging.

And the greatest and cutest thing for me in the exhibit was the shadow catcher. Why? Because by just sticking your faces and bodies in the wall, your shadow is there and does not go away. It really made me curious so I asked the facilitator how that happened. She said that it caused by phosphorescent materials, the combination of phosphorous and fluorescent.

Wow, another fun and exciting exhibit made possible by science. Now I know that science is one of the greatest things in human life. I hope that I see more exhibits about science in the future.

Saturday, August 25, 2007, my classmates and I went to the Shangri-La Plaza to attend a program. This program is entitled Robo Fiesta. In this program, robot fanatics, students, and robot builders gathered so that they can show and demonstrate the robots that they did. There were also contests in this program such as the “Robo Sumo”, where robots are pushing each other out of the ring. There were many other games such as the game where robots with detectors follow a pattern and the best and fastest one wins.
In the program, there were so many students, students that build robots themselves. They’re remarkable and how I wish I could be like them. Some of the nicest robots that I saw were the Dancing Robot, which dances with the music, the Robo-Sapien, Robo-Boa, Robo-Raptor, which moves, talks and dances, and the robot arm.
In the program, there were also displays and demos of past inventions. An example of this was R2-D2, which was used in the movie “Star Wars” and as the movie evolves the robot improves more. For me, this tells us that technology is really improving through time.
These are the things that made me enjoy this wonderful exhibit. Also, this program helped me in learning new things about robotics. I have learned that it robotics has been here in our world for so many years, I know this because of the vintage robots that I saw. I also learned that robotics makes people more creative. But the greatest lesson that I have learned is that robotics can help us and it can make a difference.
